Local & Family History Day, 21 July 2012

The Local Studies Library’s annual local history day will be held at Boston Manor House on Saturday 21 July, between 12 noon and 4pm. This provides an opportunity to see the Jacobean house that has been described as the jewel of west London. Local history books will be on sale.

As well as family history from the Brentford High Street Project website there will be displays about Royal visitors to the House, the celebration of Queen Victoria’s 1897 Diamond Jubilee in the town, sporting activities in 1912 and the re-naming of Brentford Brewery. Some early local directories and other local history material will be available, including the record of the bombs that fell during World War 2.

As the house was a primary school from 1941 to 1961 former pupils would be particularly welcome, especially if they are prepared to share their memories and pictures!

Refreshments will be available at the café opposite the children’s playground and car park off Boston Manor Road just north of the elevated M4.
