an illustrated talk by Sally Jeffery, a garden historian who has researched the late 17th-century house and garden which adjoined Chiswick House.
This estate was purchased by the Duke of Devonshire and added to the grounds of Chiswick House just over 200 years ago; though the house has gone you can still see the walled gardens north of the conservatory.

This evening will include contributions from two speakers.
First Ian Peacock will provide a short history of the church which celebrated its centenary in 2009. Next Steve Rolling, Heroes of Chiswick Project Manager, will report on progress with the community research project studying the parishioners who died on active service in the First World War. This is supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Society members may be interested to see proposals for the future of Gunnersbury Park Museum. There is an exhibition of panels which outline the proposals. These can be seen in the Park (near the cafe) and in the Museum or here. The slideshow given by the Project Team on Saturday 23 November can be seen here. The exhibition continues until 9 December.
