The Chaloner Monument: Commemoration & Society in Post-Reformation England

The monument in St Nicholas Church commemorates Sir Thomas Chaloner (d 1615) and his wife and is one of West London’s most important Jacobean monuments.

Nigel Llewellyn, Head of Research at Tate Britain, is known for his research on death and commemoration and his book Funeral Monuments in Post-Reformation England

Lesley Blanch and the Run-Away Game

Anne Boston, author of Lesley Blanch: Inner Landscapes, Wilder Shores, traces the romantic traveller and writer’s early life in Chiswick and Richmond.

The paperback, to be launched in January 2011, will be on sale at the meeting.

Christmas meeting

Our annual get-together – small contributions of seasonal food to share will be very welcome, while drinks will be on sale in the bar.

Our bookstall will provide a chance for last-minute present buying and we’ll have jolly things to do with a local history theme.
