Our speakers, Janet McNamara and David Shailes, are both long-standing Brentford residents. They will present a broad sweep of the history of Brentford, sharing their enthusiasm and knowledge in this illustrated talk. Janet is our Vice-Chair and one of the Hounslow Heritage Guides while David is one of our committee members who led on Local History Month in Brentford in 2022.
This will be an in-person event at the Chiswick Memorial Club and it will also be offered via Zoom. All are welcome and there is no charge to participate.

An illustrated talk by Ishwari Giga, Curator at Gunnersbury Park Museum, who grew up locally. Passionate about social history and contemporary curating, she co-ordinated this project, funded by Historic England. Focussing on Firestone and Trico in Brentford and AEC in Southall, volunteers, former workers and young film-makers together assembled the content for new web pages. These show how the growth and decline of heavy industry has shaped West London. You can see the Museum’s on-line exhibition
