After 4 years of service Cluny Wells stepped down from this voluntary role at our AGM in May; we recorded our gratitude for her work at that meeting. The Society is now keen to recruit her successor who would become a member of the sociable Committee which runs our Society.
On the second Monday of the month from September to May the Committee meets to plan our future programe and to advise on potential speakers or researchers who might contribute articles for our Journal. We rely on the Secretary to write up minutes of these meetings and circulate them by email.
A suitable candidate will be interested in but not expert on local history, careful to get our basic admin tasks right and thoughtful about spotting matters which we should consider at meetings. The Honorary Secretary is also the first point of contact for national and London local history organisations, for publishers of relevant Journals and newsletters and his/her task is to circulate information from these sources to the committee. S/he helps to arrange room bookings by liaising with the Chiswick Memorial Club. The Society also has a membership secretary who keeps a record of members’ details and subscription payments.
If you think this might be a role you would like to take on please contact our Chairman, James Wisdom, by email chairman@brentfordandchiswicklhs.org.uk for a chat about it.
