James Wisdom and Val Bott from the Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society will give an illustrated talk as part of a programme of special events marking 150 years since the foundation of St Paul’s Church.
They will describe the new parish, which took in both Strand on the Green and the Grove Park Estate, and the involvement of William, the 7th Duke of Devonshire, who owned more than half of Chiswick at that date. The talk will look at fund-raising and building the church, its clergy, and the way the parish community and the congregation have changed since 1872.
The talk will be given online; if you would like to join in, please book your ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/we-are-150-festival-st-pauls-church-grove-park-406219
