This is not a B&CLHS event but one which we feel sure our members would enjoy! The Chiswick House & Gardens Trust presents this online talk by a real expert on the gardens of Chiswick House.

Dr David Jacques has been involved with Chiswick House Gardens since 1982 when he undertook a survey and researched their history. Since then he has been the responsible Inspector at English Heritage, a consultant once more, and more recently a Trustee. David will explain in detail the innovative changes by Lord Burlington and William Kent, those by the 5th Duke of Devonshire and Duchess Georgiana from the 1780s, the restoration by the Ministry of Works in the 1950s, and the renewal of the gardens in the 2000s. He hopes to publish his definitive history of the Gardens later this year and, supported by Chiswick House Friends, is offering pre-publication subscriptions for the book at £30 a copy online.
