We are proud of our Brentford & Chiswick Local History Journal which is well-designed and carries excellent articles resulting from recent research. It is issued annually to all members; copies are also available from Brentford & Chiswick libraries or can be ordered by post from our book shop page.
At our meetings and at occasional events like the West London Local History Conference, the Society runs a bookstall which stocks many local titles published by others as well as those which we have published ourselves.
The Society was set up by the library service in the 1950s to promote interest in the Local Studies collection and encourage research. We continue to see our role as being to work closely with local library and museum staff and we help to identify and sometimes to acquire appropriate material for the collections. Without the resources in the local studies collection at Chiswick Library, and the material at Gunnersbury Park Museum, our research projects and publications would not have been possible.
We are grateful for the opportunity to use illustrations from these collections in our publications. Anyone who wishes to use these images should contact the relevant collection for permission.
